Amazing how much sound there can be in such a small dog.

If you bring a big goose with you then the chiuhahua becomes irrelevant!

And it really goes to their head when they actually scare someone who mistakes one for a rat.

I’d rather have the chiuhahua vs the yorkie. There is a danged rat dog if there is one!

My recently deceased wife and I had 2 Chihuahua’s, the female (6 pounds) was “mean” to our Catahoula Leopard Dog (85 pounds). She would “attack” him all the time if he even looked at her food many time she would “bite” his legs or “hang” on his lip and he just looked at her and ran. Unfortunately in the last 18 months we lost them all, the male Chihuahua almost 2 weeks ago the other 2 last year. :(

I am not a big fan of any of those small lap dog types, chihuahuas, yorkies, Pekingese, etc. For one reason, when they bite people, their teeth are of such small diameter that it is almost like a needle injecting bacteria below the skin, making them more prone to infection and very difficult to adequately irrigate out when the patient presents to the ER. Larger dogs usually leave more open tissue-tearing bites which cause more damage to the tissue but they are easier to irrigate out and therefore less prone to infection. All dog bites will probably require antibiotics, but from what I have seen, even with antibiotics, the small dog bites will require more returns to the ER, more rounds of antibiotics, and still have a higher infection rate and a longer wound resolution time than the larger dog’s bites, unless the damage from the larger bite was much more extensive.

The worst damage from dog bites, in my experience, were maulings by chows and pitbulls. It seems that once the mauling started, the dog continued on and on with the attack, causing extensive tissue damage on a massive scale. Most of the really bad ones were on children who according to the parents were just minding their own business when the dog, for no apparent reason, turned on the child and attacked. I don’t think these are good dogs to be around small children. I like Labs because the biggest danger with them is being licked to death or something on that order.

Some big dogs know they’re big (not the 100-pounders that want to sit on your lap), but I’ve never met a small dog who knew he was small.

(If you see a big dog and a small dog playing together, sometimes the big one will try to accommodate, staying low and so on. Sometimes not. But the small dogs will usually throw in with the big dogs in the scrum, and get run over. That’s why some dog parks have special areas for small dogs only.)

Former neighbours had Chihuahuas. They found a way to get into our back yard and immediately went after our cats. According to the cats they were delicious.

I think mine is half blind. He looks out the window when nothing is out there and goes crazy barking like there were.
