    Actually, the eggs sold in stores are sized by weight, packaging those with similar physical dimensions together in each carton. The common sizes, medium, large, and extra large are about 1.75, 2.0, and 2.25 ounces per egg respectively. The living conditions, food and water, age and breed of the chickens are some of the factors which can affect the size of eggs produced. Unless otherwise specified, most baking recipes are referring to large eggs. The nutritional value of different sized eggs is not that significant.
