Transcript:
Calvin: Look, Hobbes. Here's an ancestor of yours! A saber-toothed tiger! Ha ha. I'll bet he was popular! If anyone needed to open a can of juice, they'd just put him over it and hit him on the head! Ha ha! Hee hee, I'll bet they died out because they couldn't understand each other! They pwobabby dokked wike diff! Ha ha ha! ...All in all, though, they were undoubtedly the pinnacle of prehistoric evolution...

I love Calvin’s expression in the third panel. So funny!

Hobbes’ teeth may not be as large as sabers but he can still hurt you with them.

i like when Hobbes gets angry or waits for Calvin to return from school to pounce on him… Hobbes eyes are pretty menacing..

Besides—they are not ancestors, but analogues to uncles or cousins.

I’m surprised that this story about their trip to the Museum doesn’t last for 7 pages, including the last 4 panels, which are about the gift shop. If it did, it could feature at least 15 other prehistoric and recently-extinct creatures, such as:
1. Pterygotus
2. Dunkleosteus
3. Eryops
4. Cynognathus and Lystrosaurus
5. Plateosaurus
6. Omeisaurus
7. Ceratosaurus and Dryosaurus
8. Psittacosaurus
9. Elasmosaurus
10. Patriofelis and Stylinodon
11. Climacoceras
12. Argentavis
13. Otodus megalodon (the giant shark)
14. Diprotodon and Megalania
15. Haast’s eagle and the moa

I love that Hobbes doesn’t even have to say a word, he just has to remind Calvin who’s bigger.
