I’ve been reading about Calvin and Hobbes, that pedantic philosopher, for many happy years now and never have stopped loving him, for he’s the very essence of a bright, obstreperous, undounted child that lived in me many years ago.

He should not secede from his parents in first place. Now he changes his mind and runs to his home terrifyingly.

The strip often highlights Calvin’s precocious intelligence and his preternatural imagination, then reminds us that he’s only 6 (?) years old and does not have the experience nor common sense yet to match those other traits. Hence, he comes to wildly improbable conclusions: he can get to the Yukon in a day and his parents might desert him.

How true is that… For kids, even 5 minutes feels like a lifetime.

Young children are similar to dogs, in that they live in the moment. Takes a while before they (children)realize what the future means.

Funny how quickly everything we have been given becomes our possessions.
