Like the old saying “Strong back, weak mind”. Though Hobbs consistently outsmarts Calvin.

    doctortoon says:

“I feed my cats as soon as I get home. Otherwise I think they would do something far worse if they could.”

I thought they always looked at things first as food… .

Also, the saying as I always heard it was, “Weak mind, strong legs,” as in, when the mind forgets something, the legs get their exercise.

There are two sure signs of old age:

The memory goes. I can’t remember that one.

i just love how Hobbes is waiting knowing he will be there soon, then Calvin unsuspectingly yells he is home so he set himself up. Hobbes is so cute in this one. very good strip.

when we get home from anywheres be it next door, my dog (1/2 black lab 1/2 pit; acts more like a lab) will come running, and prancing around winning in happens lattely he has learned to whistle, No lie, he wines a certain way and it sounds like he swallowed a whistle. so i get just about the same love all the time.

Hobbes can’t be just a stuffed tiger… how would Calvin fling the toy into himself and crash outside like that every day?

    :-)

Coffee, I think Hobbes is Calvin’s excuse for always being somewhat unkempt. Mom: Calvin, how can you get so dirty! Calvin: Hobbes did …whatever. Mom just rolls her eyes. I’m surprised they haven’t taken him to a psychologist or that the school hasn’t recommended it. but yes, it’s a great comic.

No, he didn’t. I read both comments, yours and his. He was talking about too much salt being bad for you. You gave him a less then pleasant 14 year old’s response, and it upset him. He does need to watch his temper, and he did insult you in return, I agree, but he didn’t swear at you. Now, I know that we’ve discussed this before. He speaks American sign language, and the syntax is different from spoken language. Sometimes what he says isn’t always apparent on first reading. The majority of us understand what he means. You don’t like it when others your age tease you, so please learn from this. And you, too, Wildmustang. Ignore perceived insults, and the ones that make them will look like the fools.

Having put salt on slugs to kill them on my plants, I can state that it doesn’t improve their texture, it breaks down their cell walls.

As I said he does get around hobbes in some comics, then why doesn’t he learn to not use the front door? Or at least not always say I’M HOME!

Nicely handled, margueritem. I too noticed the ugly banter yesterday and found it disturbing for “comics comments”. I have supected Wildmustang operates under a handicap of sorts and hoped others would cut him some slack.

Certain others should just plain know better.

Calvin should say it, but stand by the side of the door, then run inside after Hobbes sails on by.

Thank you, Grazer. I’ve noticed a few posters that I felt used English as a second language, or perhaps had a handicap of some sort. I asked Wild Mustang about it one day, and he explained that he was deaf. Another poster stated that he speaks correctly in a sign language context. That was something that I didn’t know, not being at all experienced with sign language myself.

I hate to be all “YOU’RE WRONG”, but he actually does try all those things. Needless to say, none of them work.

He stands by the side of the door once then walks in; result=Hobbes coming back the other way saying “Elapsed turnaround time 0.02 seconds” or some other ridiculously small amount of time. He DOES try going around back, but if you remember what happened at the end of THAT episode that’s why he doesn’t do that… Of course he didn’t have to sneak up on him necessarily.

Another thing; he did sit there for awhile on the porch NOT saying anything and then going in, but it didn’t help him any. If you mean just walking in without saying anything I’m not sure that would do him any good either; He waits until after the door’s open to jump.

Y’all were bothering me with those questions, I felt compelled to state why he doesn’t do any of those.
