Why isn’t Susie helping Calvin? All women are like that.

Even funniest thing becomes boring task if it is given as school assignment.

In general, I love to read books. But if I had to read some book at school, I did not like it. School ruined some great books for me just because of that. bleeep school!

Same with Calvin. If Mrs. Wormwood would give Calvin an assignment to make… for instance, snowmen, Calvin would not do it. And right he is!

Come on Susie, break out the collection you made for Calvin. You didn’t? We have to rewrite all the songs about fools in love, young love, and He’s So Fine?

And where exactly is Calvin going to STORE these bugs??? heheheheh, panic mode, gotta love it.

I dearly love school, always have. When we were assigned a bug collection, I did it, even though I thought killing the bugs was gross. However, I don’t think I learned anything from the assignment, and if I did, it was not information I ever used either in my academic life or in day-to-day life. I really don’t see the connection between collecting bugs and a good education.

great preparation for a future working on a daily newspaper (if any were left that is): calvin desperately searching for something to file on deadline while susie screams for his copy.

I didn’t recall seeing Susie’s bug collection in this series. If she doesn’t have one either, why is she ragging on Calvin? I’m afraid Calvin is going to end up with Susie in the years to come! Humph!!!

Dont worry Calvin, we are in time. there are a bunch of flies on the window school bus.. hey.. have you stepped on a caterpillar?.. i think that counts too.

notinksanymore, the point of doing assignments like bug collecting is that you learn the discipline to do unpleasant things when necessary.

Is the whole point of looking for insects getting outside away from the TV? I never did this is school looked for bugs.

Like most introductory entomology courses, we require our students to produce an insect collection. The class gets subjected to this story arc every year!

Yes Susie has a collection. She undoubtedly had her project completed within the first week.

So true. I remember once in English class when I was in Jr High… we were assigned to read a book that I had read on my own and enjoyed.

I had the hardest time getting it read again for the class… even though I often read books several times. Fortunately, I had read it recently enough that I was able to do the assignment by just skimming through it to refresh my memory of the story.

Where were Calvin’s mom & dad all month long? Calvin’s upbringing is, after all, THEIR responsibility; could it be an “outsourcing” mindset at work here?

While in England last year had a chance to see the bug collection sent home from the Beagle by Charles Darwin – very impressive!! – and, one might argue very educational as well.
