I’m surprised you didn’t get an F. You better get on that book report if you want to improve on that D.

    Good Morning, Marg!

D-minus-minus, my foot. You can split the difference between a D and an F infinitely if you need the kid to pass. But Calvin should have got an F for that non-effort with a minus tacked on for dishonesty.

Not to say I don’t like the kid. That’s beside the point.

Interestingly Hobbes is the only being (non-human) who will not get Calvin into trouble. He always has an ear for Calvin’s antics. He also has a wise but sarcastic mouth.

    “My what?”

That cracked me up, Clavin and Hobbes and Peanuts are the only comic stips that ever made me laugh. I like how this strip had a lot up build up for the ending joke. Today’s comic strips in newspaper are just bland, uncreative and BORING. I stopped reading the funnies in the newspaper years ago.

Incorrigible, right! I think the only take-away lesson our little guy will learn is the politician’s credo: Don’t get caught!

Later he will learn the five words that politicians fear most:

    Will the defendant please rise?

@possiblekim: What child could be as bright as Calvin at his age?

Well…ahem…I was. And I was much more responsible (especially about my schoolwork) too, despite being very similar to Calvin in all the other basic ways that count. And I have known kids who were brighter still.

If only Calvin could learn to focus. That would be a very great gift, for then nothing could stop him from becoming anything he wanted to be.

A D minus minus is a (small) cut above an F plus, which is about where Calvin likes to be. Now he’ll have to play all weekend and remind his parents Sunday night (after the library closes, of course) of his book report.

Calvin’s mind is elsewhere … like in his make-believe reality with Hobbes or other dimensions when he is having fun and being creative. Please, let’s hope that all those adults looking at Calvin, don’t stifle his creative side. Channel it elsewhere, like into more effective educational methods.

Grog, Well, i’m not independently wealthy, as you are. I have to take what I can get …and “Make hay while the sun shines.” We research assistants observe together. “Many hands make ‘light’ work.” Danae is like Calvin; she doesn’t ‘pay’ attention, but I often don’t get paid attention. If I were egocentric, it might bother me. :o) P.S. Thank you for the attention.

BTW, I’m not like those people who crave attention even if it’s negative. I relate to a comment from yesterday, “No noose is good noose.”
