I’m baack! Things were tense at the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, but since the CIA holds my first born, I speak no further about something that I know nothing about.
Welcome back Marg! You see, Dad went back for Marg!
Dad should really think twice about what he’s doing. Invest a little time now and get a whole lot of Calvin not bothering him later.
Allow me to join the others in welcoming you back Marge! I know you enjoyed yourself because I was there many years ago and it is a beautiful and relaxing place.
Hobbes on the other hand is watching TV and reading Calvin’s comic books. That to can be peaceful & relaxing.
Welcome back MARG. I didn’t know the Grand Canyon was on the Afghanistan border? Guess I should get an atlas that was published after1976. Anyway, has BP began filling it with all that surplus oil yet? Did gas prices drop as you drove off the edge? Inquiring minds want to know?
Nice to have you back, Marg. G.C is spectacular, isn’t it? You came back just in time for the poignant ‘missing Hobbes’ story. (that’s all I’m going to say - I’m no spoiler).
I say keep going. Maybe Calvin will learn that, even if you don’t want to go, you should get ready so you don’t forget things like that. And stalling doesn’t help.
Marg: You went to the Afghanistan/Pakistan boarder AND the Grand Canyon? You’re lucky! I hope you get your child back! Also you said it was in the mid 80’s, I didn’t know you had access to time travel… LoL.
This strip is beginning to let us see bits of the personalities of Calvin’s parents, especially his mother. Wonder who she is modeled after in the mind of the cartoonist….
Everyone, forget what you have been told about the Grand Canyon. Forget those spectacular vistas that you have seen on TV. While they are impressive, they cannot do justice to it.
Marg, you’ve got the greatest excuses for being absent!
I can’t wait til your next trip ends - but of course we don’t want you to start any because we’d miss you.
What irony that Calvin is suffering an unbearable (or un-tiger-able?) loss en route to a wedding!
Is it too soon for Calvin to learn that actions and behaviors have consequences? (Of course, that also means that the parents have to live with the same consequences…)
Hello everyone…still unsure about posting but enjoy reading all the comments. Marg, hope you had a great visit to the canyon…you know it was carved out by children’s tears as their parents left the area…
I think the parents are about to learn all about “consequences” and rightly so. He’s a 6-YEAR-OLD. You don’t expect 6 year olds to pack for themselves. In addition, logic is lost on 6 year olds – isn’t that before the age of reason, can’t remember for sure?

Well, Marg, glad to have you back!!! You always give us such nice comments! How was the north rim? Cold as usual in early June?
margueritem over 14 years ago
ML, no, it was hot! In the mid 80s, yet there was still snow around in places.

Hope you had a nice holiday Marg!
Poor Calvin, it’ll be a long day and night without his best stuffed friend! Hopefully there’s some other kids there for him to hang around with.

To be honest about it, everything other than comments about Calvin is SPAM, including all the personal messages.
I love when Dad shows his limited sense of humor.

Well, apparently you have some personal spam in Sunday’s comments that someone wants you to see. I don’t remember who it was.
Edit: I think it was in ‘Two Cows and a Chicken’.
