It’s the thought that counts, Calvin.

Susie throwing a snowball doesn’t make her an angel either. (Not like Calvin is even close)

You didn’t get Susie back, Calvin, but you snowed Mom! You can’t snow Santa, though.

Suzies snowball strike was pre-emptive. It was to prevent calvin’s planned attack, so she’s clean. Calvin however….

    Today Calvin is an INFP:

    I’m Now Frustrated and Panicked.

That’s because he’s also an ESTJ:

    Expecting Santa’s Terrible Justice.

    Calvin’s Mom is an ISTP:

    Is Susie Truly the Perpetrator?

But Calvin knows that when his Mom sees Hobbes, she also suffers from ESTP:

    Erroneous Stuffed Toy Perception.

Hobbes tries to help Calvin when they are alone, but in that situation Hobbes is generally an ESFP:

    Every Suggestion Feels Pointless.

I like how Calvin looks in the 4th panel. Trying to be good is exhausting hard work. He looks drained–but we know he’ll be back in full force in no time. Meanwhile, Hobbes is very wise.

One thing I couldn’t figure out when this first ran is why this is even an issue. Kids have snowball fights all the time. Granted, it wasn’t a planned fight but Susie had no trouble throwing the first shot when she found out what Calvin was up to. They’re just being normal kids.

Christmas used to be such a magical time for me with the anticipation, all the decorations sparkling with the lights on the tree. Now as an adult the mystery has gone. How sad! And each day speeds by like a freight train. To bad during the Holiday Season we can’t all be kids again Some adults seem able to achieve that inner child and good for them.

I don’t know, cleokaya. The inner child sometimes needs to stay inner! My parents. If anyone needs a big smile, check out the vocal group Straight No Chaser on youtube…they have several carols that are straight up funny! I recommend their version of “Twelve Days of Christmas” to start..

    Hi cleokaya

I’ve found that the best way for adults to be kids is for adults to be with kids. Not just in the same room with them, but down on their level, using their imagination to do things with the kids – making eye contact with them while making up simple games, teasing them, making up stories, building imaginative things, playing with stuffed animals…. But be careful, just in case any of the stuffed animals turn out to be real.

rogue53 I don’t usually go back and read the comics again, so I missed this yesterday. Thank you. It’s late when I read them, and I have a lot to read before I go to bed, so concise works well for me. :-)

Not really. I have it on good authority that the proper acronyms are:

TLA: Three Letter Acronym. ETLA: Extended Three Letter Acronym SETLA: Super-Extended Three Letter Acronym. DSETLA: Double-Super-Extended Three Letter Acronym. I think there was one for seven letters, but I’ve forgotten it.

We never did the whole unless you’re good Santa won’t come routine. I rather Santa be more of a teacher in that, “It’s better to give than to receive”, rather than the guy that’s always lurking around checking on you all the time. Pretty scary stuff for a little kid and then you want them to sit on his lap and say what they want for Christmas?!

Hobbes, I know all about stuffed animals being real. I had two Teddies that my parents thought were stuffed. I knew better. I was an only child like Calvin and I think we tend to bring out the life force that children with siblings do not find in our furry companions.

I never believed in Santa Claus, so I didn’t have to stop fighting with my sisters!

I’ve never understood why parents lying to their kids year after year is considered such a good thing…

Calvin is trying to balance out good and greed within himself. Our present medical system, much less our government, has found themselves in much the same quandary with about the same likelihood of success as Calvin. We still love Calvin unconditionally however….
