Not caught, not fouled out, obvious contact; why’s he still standing there? It’s an infield homer, if anybody’s watching Hobbes.

The Red Sox should have won; that’s the issue. It doesn’t matter how many times they have won previously, or whether certain other teams have not won for so many years.

idroppedmygum is the culprit. His gum stuck to Calvin’s bat. When Calvin swung, the ball hit the gum on the bat and adhered. ’That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.’BTW, the Cardinals did well to overtake the Braves, and the Rays did even better to overtake the 7-20 in September Red Sox.

I went to bed, with the Yankees up by 7 runs, and Boston with a lead during a rain delay. I figured it was a done deal. The Yankees would eventually play the Sox in the playoffs and continue one of the greatest rivalries in sports.Even though my guys are still playing, I will miss that wonderful match up. Hang in there, Sox fans. See you next year.

No matter what team you support (if the Phillies and Rays end up in the World Series, I’m going to be very conflicted), I’m pretty sure we can all agree that Wednesday was the greatest night in MLB in a very long time. I wore out my clicker finger jumping between games.

The Red Sox are so typcal Red Sox. They dont deserve such loyal fans. They couln’t have done any worse this last month if they were paid to throw the season.

Aside from all venerable Cubs fans, nobody got nuttin’ on us loyal Dodgers fans. Incompetent ownership, underachieving players (those that are good enough to be considered ‘major league level’ – of which many starters were not!), thug/gang bangers in the crowd…..it’s been a dosey of a season for BLUE. With that form, Hobbs would be our #2 starter!

    Da Bums!

Who cares if it’s a spitball, Calvin — at least you don’t have to touch it! Just take it with you as you run around the bases!

Let’s get a ruling. The bat hit the ball, and the ball didn’t cross the plate or be caught by the catcher. The ball hasn’t hit the ground or been caught by the opposing team. Is it still in the “air”? If the bases are loaded, can Calvin’s team get three home runs as long as he has possession?

@Hobbes,Thank you for the response, but you took the comparison quite a bit farther than I had intended. In the panel, Watterson made Calvin look somewhat like God in that one aspect of his (God’s) deity and I ran with it (and Calvin should, too). It reminds me of a book I read many years ago called “Your God Is Too Small!” by J.B. Philips, originally published in 1952, but still largely up-to-date and relevant. It’s a good read!
