Aliens like TV, too, what a luck, rescued!!

Dad these things happen even to normal kids,you must believe me?

Based on a true story dad…….

Dad: “Why on earth are you watching… ?”Calvin: “Hey, I wasn’t watching it!”

Calvin never needs to say a word. His eyes speak volumes in every panel!

I love fifteenth picture, Calvin looking with one eye!

Is that an alien…or a bright idea chasing Calvin? Like “Do your homework and pay attention in class, and you might learn something?”

In today’s strip, I like how the alien is laughing at the TV and then he has a big smile as he is leaving.

@margueritem: Another way to tell that Dad is turning off the TV is that his left hand is at the lower left corner of the TV set. That’s the same location as Calvin’s left hand three panels earlier when he turns the TV on. So the on/off button is at the lower left corner of the TV.

@Number Six: In the 13th panel, Calvin is running so fast that the room is tipping to the right. When Calvin runs really fast, like in the 10th or 13th panels, it almost looks like his hair is on fire.

So, after spending an hour wathing television, he (she, it) went back home and reported no intelligent life on Earth.

Dad turns the TV off…alien destroys the world.

Who but Watterson would fit 20 panels into a Sunday strip. He’s my hero.

The PBS strip reminds me of a portion of Hitchhiker’s Guide… where a massive alien fleet launches an attack but due to a failure to consider scale is wiped out by a fly swatter (or something like that). Thanks Hobbes.

Don’t aliens generally say “Take me to your leader”? So Calvin led the alien to the TV.

@ Number Six: Lit profs are like “critics”—their interpretations say more about them than they do about the piece under consideration. The same could be said for the “diagnoses” of many psychiatrists.

Anyone else hearing the Emperial probe droid in the Hoth scene from ‘Empre Strikes Back’ the two times Calvin’s alien “spoke” to him?

Starting from Panel 6 onwards had me laughing. I love Calvin’s frightened faces.

The ‘jumping TV’ is one of my favourite effects.

Back in Feb. ‘10, John Campanelli of Cleveland’s The Plain Dealer interviewed Watterson:

C. ‘With almost 15 years of separation and reflection, what do you think it was about “Calvin and Hobbes” that went beyond just capturing readers’ attention, but their hearts as well?"

W. “The only part I understand is what went into the creation of the strip. What readers take away from it is up to them. Once the strip is published, readers bring their own experiences to it, and the work takes on a life of its own. Everyone responds differently to different parts.”

So, for me, each episode conjures from a snapshot of my life, the mental, and most time physical, chuckle!

From what I see the alien is saying take me to your leader which is the TV set.. How true

Funny, I had something similar happen just the other day…
