I’m surprised to see Dad actually admitting that what he said first wasn’t true. Usually he just keeps embellishing his story.

Reminds me of a similar Peanuts strip: Box 1: Linus asks Lucy, “Why is the sky blue?” Box 2: Lucy relies acidly: “BECAUSE IT ISN’T GREEN!!” sending Linus and his blanket tumbling over backward. Box 3: Lucy stomps away in disgust. Box 4: Linus breaks the fourth wall saying—“That just shows how stupid I am. . . I thought there might be a more complicated reason. . .”

Calvin should ask Lucy van Pelt; she always has an explanation, regardless of her ignorance.

I like that.My Grandmother would tell me when ever there was thunder and lightning that it was the dump truck dumping fire wood next door.I was about 7 and helping the old man next door pile his wood meant goodies .To this day thunder dose not scare me.

At least he admitted it’s not the truth this time.

I don’t like Calvin’s dad, this is one of the reasons that he’s not doing good in school (plus being hyper, possible adhd, etc…) Calvin probably thinks that no adult will give him the straight answers, even the teachers, so why listen to them in the first place? (Thank God we had an encyclopedia set at my house, or I would have ended up like Calvin!)
