When dealing with electricity, the SMALLER the guage number, the GREATER the current capacity the wire can carry. It’s not a direct reference to the thickness of the cord. Thermostat and doorbell wire are usually 18- 20 guage; lamp cord, 16-18. Light duty household wiring can be 12 or 14, and your electric range and dryer are usually 10 guage or thicker, Your wire coming into the house is in one of the zero guages. Gweedo is right, and weather or waterproof or not, 16 guage ain’t gonna cut it three or more cords from the house. ;-) ! Besides, if it won’t go on the flat, how’s he gonna make it blow UP the hill? (whoops. Bad choice of words.)

Good grief. Not sure whether to comment on the comic strip or the readers comments on this one. Anyway glad to see that you are looking more chilled than yesterday. You were definitely a moaning minny that is for sure Calvin

You need to think outside the box, Calvin! It’s not the number of extension cords or the gauge, it’s the fan. That won’t do anything but blow snow out the back like a fart. Grab Spaceman Spiff’s rocket engine and you will haul azz!

Calvin needs battery power and bolts to attach the fan to the sled.

Calvin should do some dumpster diving and find an old gas motor. Maybe too much difficulty involved.

When I was a kid (age-wise) I built a snow sled with a Cox airplane engine. The sled was about 12" long, 5" wide and 3/4" thik with a beveled front edge. The nitro fuel engine was mounted similar to a swamp boat. It had a pusher blade. That sucker would zip down the snow covered street! The last run, it hit a snow hump, went airborne, and crash landed on a neighbors front porch. So Calvin, get a bigger fan!

I worked on a major power-hungry scientific installation. The engineer ordered a 200 feet roll of the wrong gauge wire. When we plugged in the apparatus for a test, it did not start and the roll of wire heated up. Only 90 volts was arriving at the far end!

I’ve finally realized it’s not the strip that keeps my attention, it’s the intelligence level of the comments. Unbelievable!

Calvin would be much happier with a JATO unit attached to his sled.
