Dad should ask: Calvin, what are you up to?

Calvin, why are you talking like a college student…What do you have up your sleeve Now?! ;)

It’s 1994, and they’re unlikely to have Internet in their home yet, let alone a porn filter. He’s more likely to be talking about a video or magazine or something. Come to think of it, there has been no sign that they even own a VCR.

Calvin saw something that he’s trying dad say it was ok. From the sound of it he saw it doing something he wasn’t supposed to be doing.

I don’t like where this is going….for Dad.

I think when Calvin gets a little older, he and his dad are going to bond in ways they weren’t able to before, because they’re both highly intelligent and insightful. Calvin might be a rebellious teen, but he and his dad will probably be able to speak to each other on the same level.

I remember having that same discussion with my Dad, when I was six. Oh, wait. That wasn’t me.

Calvin skipped a step — people have the right to express themselves, but that doesn’t mean everyone has the right to see or hear that expression.

Which is what Dad was getting to. He isn’t stalling at all, just explaining some nuances that Calvin missed.

My sisters and I found the magazines hidden in bushes on our way walking to the playground..Oh gosh, now I see some implications to that . . .

Dad just say what my parents always said. Our house isn’t a democracy it’s a dictatorship!

The first amendment is about government censorship, not private. Calvin can watch that stuff as soon as he is on his own.

Logic and young kids doesn’t mix.

Or perhaps “I Spit on Your Grave.” He’d be a lot nicer to Susie after watching that one.

Exactly. I could not believe my eyes when the “news” showed that picture with its corresponding “photoshop” jibes. That is pornography that should NOT be shown on television, and certainly not while children can be watching. I’m far from being a child but it was extremely offensive to me. And you can’t “unsee” things!

Calvin’s not talking porn; he’s talking violence. At this stage, he still thinks girls are gross.

I think Calvin’s in trouble at school…

I don’t think Dad is the one who is stalling. Please get to the point, Calvin! What is it you want to know?

I think this must be before Calvin learned the lesson “You don’t need to ask a question you already know the answer to…”

I think Calvin is trying to get Dad to let him watch “Venusian Vampire Vixens”.

I wonder how Calvin is gonna react.

Go, Calvin!!!

I kind of always thought that he was talking about music with a bunch of swear words in it.
