Over the last 15 years, hornets, wasps, and bees have accounted for 1/3 of all animal related deaths in adults in the U. S. Depending on how one groups animals and ranked by deaths caused, the hymenopterans are the single most dangerous group of animals, followed closely by cows and horses.
When I was two years old, I went with my mom and sister to my friend’s house. We were playing in the yard, when I ran under the porch and disturbed a bee’s nest. Every single bee came flying out at me.Fortunately, the people who were stung, including me, had minimal stings, and I’ve been friends with that boy since two years old.
Last time I was stung was 2004. I was mowing the lawn & stepped on a hornet nest; got stung 4 times. By the time the paramedics arrived, I was unconcious with 99% airway blockage………
My brother has terrible allergies to stings, and in fact, if stung, will always end up spending the night in the hospital. As a result, it was always my job to kill any wasp or hornet nest that anyone discovered. Why am i not also allergic? Oh, I probably am, but they have never stung me, despite the thousands and thousands I have killed. My brother, meanwhile, does nothing to bother them, and gets stung. A tip for those who want to kill a nest is this – do so at dusk or dawn only. They will all be home, so you can get the entire nest, and they won’t be moving fast.

Once, when I had long hair, a bee got tangled in it. I started hitting at my head causing a passerby to give me a very strange look. Finally, the bee got onto my scalp and stung me which, while unpleasant, was better than having it caught in my hair!
Allergic reaction is the most significant cause of sting deaths, but a few are simply the result of a massive stinging attack, especially by aggressive Africanized bee colonies. One occurred last month in Arizona.
I was 12 years old at summer camp. The activity was shooting firearms. Counselor was counseling us boys. I was shooing a persistent bee. Counselor says, “Let the bee land on you and stay still. It won’t hurt you.” Counselor yelps and jumps. A bee stung him. I enjoyed that moment.

And DON’T YOU FORGET IT!!!”(LOL!)Actually, Calvin learned from Hobbes: they make up their own rules as they go along; it’s called Calvinball! He also learns all his school and homework lessons from Hobbes. Boy, he sure is “lucky” that tigers are so gosh-darned smart! (LOL!)

I was stung by a wasp on the back of my left hand. Within a minute the pain had made it’s way to my elbow. If I had to choose, I’d choose a bee.
