Growing up, so many little boys hurt themselves badly playing Superman. Give them a travel rug pinned to their shoulders and they thought they could fly. Friend of mine broke his leg jumping out an upstairs window.

The two biggest obstacles to my flying hobby were gravity and money.

So much for that origin theory.

See, now he’s practicing for a career in politics. Whenever there’s a screwup, it’s always something else’s fault.

Bellyflop on the ground, ouch!

When my grandson was about 4 or 5 my mom made him a superman cape. He put it on, stood on the arm of the sofa and launched. Took the cape off, put it in the closet and never touched it again.

Oh yes, gravity!!

I like gravy . What ? It said gravity ,never mind !

’Fortunately I never got the notion to try to fly.

gravity keeps us alive. Try living without it. Calvin says Geronimo when he leaps off a cliff. I used to say that too, and I’m here in backwoods Canada, thousands of miles away, and that was 50 years ago. Geronimo, I can still feel it.

I always wanted to fly when I was little.

Not with a superhero cape though. I’m no “Wonder Woman”
