As a kid I was disappointed that the only time my life had a soundtrack was in the car or supermarket. In the past couple of years, a very good pianist moved into an apartment near mine. At last! A soundtrack! I miss it when he’s away touring.
I am so conditioned by movie music and sound effects that reality doesn’t always register. I saw a plane crash at an airshows. Without a musical build-up or fiery explosion, it didn’t feel like anything really happened. Yet when the company I work for had an awards banquet, the colors, lighting, and music were such that, though I went in jaded, I couldn’t help but feel excited in that room.
“We live in an age of music for people who don’t like music. The record industry discovered some time ago that there aren’t that many people who actually like music. For a lot of people, music’s annoying, or at the very least they don’t need it. They discovered if they could sell music to a lot of those people, they could sell a lot more records.” T Bone Burnett

He must’ve been watching Friends. A laugh track that follows something that isn’t the least bit funny.

Wouldn’t having a musical score following you around all the time get annoying, especially if it’s the same song?

Spaceman Spiff is the one that could use a musical score… I wonder what Hans Zimmer would come up with… (other than a good laugh)

I keep my soundtrack in my head, at least when I’m not near a radio or my mp3 collection… it’s amazing what comes up sometimes.
