Sad but true…our imaginary friends don’t know anything we don’t, and their skills are no better when they help us out.

In the Swedish translation, Hobbes’ final line is “I think that’s a real airplane placed on a plastic stand.”

It’s amazing what some people go through to detail a model. I know someone that puts so much detail in you would think it is a miniaturized version of the real thing. For example, he adds aluminum piping and fittings to landing struts and adds patina to make it all look authentic. Crazy amazing. And I thought I was good when I would add things like spark plug wires and other major hoses and lines to a car engine…

My first model was a B-17 “Flying Fortress.” It did not come out perfect, as I compared the picture to my work. But I was pretty proud.. crooked decals and all.

Ah, the box used 1990s Photoshop. Hobbes was onto something.

Get a magnifying glass and do it right this time. Toys today are getting smaller… or bigger depending on what it is.

All my models looked like they were in battle with the glue monster.

He has an F4 model? I thought he would have gotten an F14.

haha! i actually was asked this week if i would paint the nose art on someones model. i declined.

I did a few of those models. The most ambitious one was an aircraft carrier. And it’s strange, but I have no memories of what happened to any of those models…

“A real jet superimposed on a plastic stand?” Ha! I guess they never heard of photorealistic painting? That’s what they usually do on those model kit boxes.

This really takes me back! I well remember trying to put those #$%^&*(#$%^&*(#$%^&*() kits together when I was a kid! And like Charlie Brown and the football, I just didn’t learn—kept going back for more!
