How can HOBBES summon Calvin’s Mom? (To her he’s just a stuffed toy, remember.)

Cyanide? Is Calvin planning to commit suicide by overdose or something?

Calvin should tell him mom that he found a gun and it accidentally went off and hit the faucet. If she can’t find a gun anywhere, that will drive her crazy.

Run Calvin, run! But don’t forget a Post-it-Note: left for Timbuktu.

Cyanide? Is that a new brand of plumbing glue or sum’tin?

How does Hobbes always manage to be the voice of reason at times like this?

Man the lifeboats, woman, children and tigers first…

Somebody’s in big trouble!

All of this water cannot be good for a stuffed animal.

It’s a good thing tigers like to swim.

I foresee a great future for Calvin in the Navy..Damage Control Officer. Either that, or sooner, in the French Foreign Legion.

Last panel made me laugh out loud.

I remember my mom laughing out loud at the “cyanide!” bit. I had to ask her what that was :).

Plan A had a big flaw and plan B sounds a whole lot worse. Calvin’s adventurous streak sure extends into some bad areas.

How did I see this in the future from yesterday ???

Now is not the time to panic Calvin, use your charm and suggest to Mom how nice it would be to have an indoor pool.

“Mom! I was walking down the hall and I noticed all this water pouring out of the bathroom!”

I didn’t realize what the cyanide bit was until just now. Now I kind of have chills.

“How high’s the water Mama? Four feet high and risin”

This comic and the one that preceded it perfectly encapsulate Hobbes’ nature. He’s Calvin’s imaginary friend, so although he can act as a voice of reason, he doesn’t actually know anything Calvin doesn’t, he can’t. That’s why he suggested turning off the water, but doesn’t know how.

Calvin must be pretty scared, with all that water flying around his hair is still standing straight up.

“I shouldna done what I done, and now I gotta run, run, run!”

In today’s context (as opposed to when it was originally drawn…oh well maybe not), this is tasteless.
