Makes me think of Saturday In The Park by Chiago… Every day’s the Fourth of July.

He can’t stand to get up early on a school day, but bounces out of bed at the crack of dawn on a Saturday.

You can never let a Saturday go to waste when you’re are a kid in school.

When I was his age I’d get up before dawn to watch “Sunrise Semester” THEN cartoons. I wasn’t noisy.

Been retired for 6 years. Still get up at 0500. No point in wasting a day sleeping when you don’t know how many days you have left.

LOL! How is your life when you go to work to get some rest?

Calvin’s the type of kid who don’t mind watching an hour of stock report before the real cartoons begin.

do kids even get the concept of saturday morning cartoons these days? I remember in early 70’s in NYC the first cartoon on a saturday was the historical adventures of Mr. Magoo when jim Backus used his character to explore literature. i’m still moved by the midnight ride of paul revere episode.

Calvin, I don’t know where you live, but it was only cartoons until noon for me – then the movies started.

I think it’s all about anticipation. He anticipates fun on the weekend and he anticipates office visits the rest of the week. What would you do???

My kids get up the same time on weekends as they do on school days-too damn early.

This reminds me of one of my favorite Our Gang comedies from the 30s, where Spanky is laying in bed moaning and telling his mom he has “the belly ache” and can’t go to school today. When she reminds him it is Saturday he experiences a miraculous recovery and leaps out of bed dancing a jig and singing “Oh it’s Saturday! It’s Saturday! I’m so glad it’s Saturday! I remember those days… from both sides.

I miss Saturday mornings.

Cap’n Crunch. The Monkees. Quisp. Jonny Quest. Quake. Star Trek.

Saturday morning cartoons are, sadly, a thing of the past. Now that there are multiple channels that air cartoons 24/7, what’s the point? Nobody had to wait for Saturday anymore. Yet another thing from my childhood now gone forever.

Dad’s too tired for good grammar.

Reporters asked Admiral Chester Nimitz what he would enjoy most about retirement. He said finding out what it was like to sleep until 6 in the morning.

I grabbed my box of Sugar Jets and spent the morning watching Captain Midnight, Sky King and Casper.

I would love to be a six year old and enjoy the holidays. As adults we never get that profound happiness.

See… this is what happens when we gave the FDA the power to outlaw giving opium to kids. Sheer mayhem ever since.
