Hobbes has become too domesticated for his own good.

It’s the same reason why predators in real life don’t roar or growl at their prey while hunting like they do in movies.

Yikes, that’s one ugly piece of furniture. Mom & Dad must’ve picked that up a Kmart Blue Light Special.

Hobbes, you are going to need better camouflage, you clash with the chair.

Calvin is becoming smarter!

Hobbes screwing up a sneak attack? GASP!

It’s no fun when the element of surprise is lost.

You have only yourself to blame for that one, Hobbes! Such a rookie mistake, too!

Watterson spent a lot of time drawing chairs. If you look hard the design differs a bit on every one so they were individually drawn. Don’t know how he could have done it different though.

A least a good “bwahahaha” would have struck terror in Calvin’s heart, Hobbes!

Pounce anyway Hobbs! Your faster than he is.

Cheer up Hobbes, there’s always the after school sneak attack to look forward to.

Looks like the material is chintz and the chair overstuffed….comfy!

This must be one of the few times that Hobbes doesn’t get the best of Calvin.

Hobbes will have his day the next time Calvin walks in through the front door.

Just do it anyway, Hobbes. You’re right there.

Hobbes…remember for next time…pounce first, then chuckle.

I’m guessing Hobbe’s stripes, appropriate for jungle camoflage, aren’t working with urban stuffed-chair floral print patterns…

In panel 2 at first I thought the chair was chuckling.

I didn’t know Calvin was Canadian, eh?

Sher Khan never chuckled, and look what happened to him.

I had a Siamese cat who would do everything but chuckle out loud as he was sneaking up on one of my other house cats. I think it is the epitome of the Siamese cat sense of humor.

I’ve always wondered why cats swing their tails when getting ready to pounce. And the butt-wiggle is cute too, though it might  be about getting the rear claws well set for the initial acceleration.
