Netflix and Zzzzzz

I remember staying up late one or two nights to see what Dad got up to. Watching the news and the agribusiness reports—and we weren’t even farmers!

Of course that was back in the days when the end of the 10 o’ clock news kind of took the batteries out of everybody.

I doubt they’ll make that mistake twice, or at least they’ll use better protection

I love the old ‘like a log’ symbolism. Reminds me of Teacher from The Bash Street Kids, when he was having a snooze on the job. The Bash Street Kids were one of my all time favourite comic strips.

Honestly, this particular strip belongs in the C&H Hall of Fame. It’s funny on multiple levels.

Of course we don’t really know what was happening while Calvin was brushing his teeth. ;)

I would have thought this was a lot more amusing 30 or 40 years ago. Come to think of it, maybe I did.

They get to relax…. enough to pass out from exhaustion. :D

If this were a cartoon, that sawed log end would drop off, conk dad in the head and wake him up. Wait a minute…this is a cartoon…

A major theme of this strip is the grass not always being greener.

That must have been a doozy of a fight Calvin’s parents had. They’re both sleeping on the couch.

Well, did you expect them to be doing anything fun in the bedroom with even a remote possibility of getting another child like him….

Being a grownup is wildly overrated.

I rarely got to watch the late night talk shows. It’s so unfair!

This isn’t my favorite Calvin strip … but it is the one that 8 year old me relates to the best.

I’m at the age where I know why old people eat dinner early. It’s so they can go to bed early. Of course, my husband is only 50 and HE wants to be lights out even earlier than I do! (Of course, he’s still working. He’s entitled!)
