Seel leaking around the tub? The pre-evolution of Pokémon Dewgong with an uncontrollable bladder wasn’t discovered until 1996, the year after Calvin and Hobbes ceased publication.
Physically, it’s impossible for Calvin to flood the bathroom without mum noticing and then mum standing knee-deep in still water, as she first has to open de door to get in, but who cares… I think this “error” makes it even more funny.
How is it even possible for the water in the third panel to be that deep? Even assuming that there is no crack under the door for water to escape, which doesn’t sound like any bathroom I’ve seen.
If mom had opened the door to enter the bathroom, the water would have flooded out into the rest of the house. And if she was already in the bathroom with the door closed, she’d have caught Calvin in the act.
And yeah, I know it’s a comic strip with an already loose grasp on reality. I’m just saying…

Maybe, Calvin should take showers.

Or perhaps it’s a 6 year old force of nature that’s causing the bathroom tidal waves.;-D

Thank goodness the downstairs neighbors kind of LIKE a damp ceiling (being termites).

Tidal waves are misnamed: by definition, they’re extra-tidal!

Who didn’t do that? I’d like to see what could be built with the subtlest of motions.

Back in the ’50’s, we’d get our butts blistered for something like that. I got a hundred or more whippings, but rarely for the same thing twice.

I liked this back and forth when I was a child, but it never splashed over the tub, always I could hold it back and everything was dry after it!!

“Tsunami” is the correct term, kid!

“Tidal wave” is obsolete. - “Tsunami” was the word a half century ago in my class of earth/space science.

thats why tubs should be round all calvin can do is start a whirlpool..but in calvins case it may turn into a blackhole!

I have noticed that the best physics lessons are the messiest. Also, it looks to me like Calvin’s “moon” made some waves.

Calvin understands resonance.

How did he manage to splash water out of the tub so it’s knee deep, but the water level in the tub hasn’t changed?
kab2rb about 3 years ago
We never had our tub water that high and never did that.

I always loved this one! It’s funny how we only see Calvin’s head in the first three panels.

It’s not the seal around the tub but the seal IN the tub.

We had one of those small round above-ground Got several people to go in circles around several times to make a whirlpool. Fun!

There had to be more than one seal to create that disaster, I’m thinking a whole herd of them.

Beats me as well. The bathroom drain must be choked. Calvin is just doing what most of the kids do.
