I don’t believe The Emancipation Proclamation applies Calvin and his family because they don’t live in a state that was or in rebellion against the United States.
She’s probably told you to put it away dozens of times. She just gave up and is now letting you “stew in your own juices” by letting you find things on your own. ;D
Get it through your little mind Calvin and remember it for life. Mothers and wives were not put on this earth to pick up after husbands and sons. Pick up after yourself.
My BFF’s son once – once! – pulled this sort of stunt, and he was old enough to know better. Something along the lines of saying to his mum, “You never do anything around here. You don’t ever fold my laundry right!” His dad grabbed him by the ears and peeled him like a banana.
“A minor who is “emancipated” assumes most adult responsibilities before reaching the age of majority (usually 18). The law doesn’t consider emancipated minors to be under the care and control of parents. Instead, they take responsibility for their own care. Once a young person becomes emancipated, the parent or guardian no longer has any say over the minor’s life. An emancipated minor can keep earnings from a job, decide where to live, make medical decisions, and more.
There comes the time to soon after birth when all the assistance stops and you’re expected to “be a big boy” and do it yourself. There comes a time long, long after birth when you are expected to “be a good boy” and let the nurse do that for you. …sigh

Freedom is just another word for . . .
. . . having to hang up your own jacket.

In Calvin’s defense, I don’t think he can reach the hangers in that closet. Not without a step ladder.

An anagram of ’Emancipation Proclamation" is “Palpitate on moronic maniac.”

Literally, on the other hand and side of the ocean, an anagram of “Declaration of Independence” is “no finer deed, an ideal concept.”

I’m pretty sure Gloria Steinem emancipated the American suburban women, not Abraham Lincoln.

Love the proclamation. This is why this strip is one of the best.
