Here in Japan, every news broadcast (and I mean EVERY!) has at least two or three closeups of a jab. Totally not needed but they keep showing them. I had a J&J shot scheduled for yesterday (before the pause) but had to cancel because of admin problems. I think I’ll wait a couple of days before rescheduling.

Life is a lot easier to get through if you don’t spend all your time watching TV news.

It is stock footage. It is the same 4-5 pieces of footage every day that they use for background fill.

Totally agree. How many times can you show the same footage, or the little vials on the conveyor belt. Some people are afraid of needles.

I never watch when a needle is involved. The needles today are sooooo thin, you don’t really feel them. I can’t stand to see the needles on TV, but I am not afraid of them.

I agree with the point of today’s strip. We don’t need to see needles going in arms every time it’s talked about. Yes, I have had both of mine.

I don’t suffer from trypanophoblia (had to look it up), but I have no desire to watch countless numbers of people getting their shots. Luckily for me, I don’t have a TV. https://www.healthline.com/health/trypanophobiahttps://www.healthline.com/health/trypanophobia

I’m getting really tired of watching those shots-in-arms videos. If they are trying to desensitize us, it worked. Any more and it will backfire.

Before this I never realized that so many people are bothered by watching someone get a shot. But I spent a lot of time in hospitals for about a year when I was a kid. I could either get used to needles or be even more miserable.

I’ve got to agree. I cringe every time I see it happen. Heck, just thinking about it gives me the shivers.

Funny thing is, I don’t really mind getting one. :-)

Is there Anyone who DOES like getting a needle stuck in their arm?? If they do, they are very odd.

Yes, that’s one way to catch malicious/incompetent/overworked health care workers who give people a poke but don’t actually inject anything. It’s happened a few times in Latin America, to the point that in Mexico they’re required to actually show the patient the needle full of the vaccine.

Yes, please show every one. That is how we normalize it to the world, especially the irrational doubters. The same could be said for all the suffering and death in the past year. Because the media sanitized our exposure to the effects of the virus, too many folks denied the reality, and millions more were affected than there had to be.
