Mom: Christmas is over. Now the real work begins. These are people we cut from our Christmas card list who sent us a card and now we feel remorseful and need to invite them over for dinner. Cathy: These are people whose cards I saved to mail with their gifts, except I never got them gifts so they got nothing from me, and now need a card, gift and a note of explanation. Mom: There are people who popped in on Christmas Day with a little something for us, who I now need to spontaneously pop in on with a little something for them. Cathy: There are people whose holiday parties I was too busy to go to for whom I now need to create a big post-holiday party. Mom: These are people who sent lovely flowers, which aren't exactly a card or gift...just an amazingly sweet gesture, which I must now put on my list to equal or top in the near future. Mom: At least we always go into the New Year with something to do.
