Assistant: The swimwear industry has spent millions completely redesigning the bottom half of the swimsuit! New shapes! New prints! New styles! New fabrics! Cathy: Anything that will fit on the bottom half of a female? Saleswoman: Nope. Assistant: But they're way less horrifying to look at on the displays!

maybe we should start buying men’s bathing suit bottoms and wear a tank top over it. Probably a lot more comfortable!

When does Cathy ever work to pay for all her shopping?

I’ve been using denim shorts and a T shirt or tank top for years. Much more comfortable and way less expensive not to mention, less problems with fitting etc. No “fall out” problems either.

Avolunteer - When I was a boy, women’s swimsuits were much larger (baggier, and covering more) than men’s. I was comfortable swimming, sunning or just hanging out. Racing suits and trunks differed in style, not in many orders of magnitude. Now, women’s swimsuits are tiny regardless of whether that shows off the women to best advantage; while men’s swimsuits involve a huge expanse of cloth. It weighs a ton, leaves everything above the shins pale white, impedes swimming and activities, costs too much, and I don’t think it shows off anything to any advantage. Meanwhile, “Speedo” type racing suits have, according to the conventional wisdom, become a true embarrassment as they’ve shrunk.
I think women, as well as men, would have to be crazy to actually want to wear men’s bathing suit bottoms.
