One word, Irving.

Well, okay, so three words. But seriously, hang up the phone.

Let me add three plus six word to that, Aaron: HANG IT UP! The best vacation is your imagination.

I know we live in a portable world but Irving have you ever heard about using your home landline

THREE WORDS: “UNLIMITED CALLING PLAN”. If you can afford to go on a vacation that involves an airline flight, or a drive of any distance for that matter, certainly you can afford an unlimited calling plan for your cell phone. And ever heard of plugging your phone in while you are making a call involving a possible hold time with customer service. Seriously. A litte forethought people.

of all the things Cathy or Irving do, that is the one thing I’ve done myself. On a cell phone, too. Just with me, it worked, and after waiting for two hours I managed to reschedule my cancelled flight to the first available one. So it was actually worth it.

Maybe Irving is like my blonde sister. She doesn’t think you can talk on a cell phone while it is charging.

Yup. Use the wired phone, or keep the cell phone connected to the charger, Irving!

Depends on the cell phone. On some older ones, you can’t.

Anyway, I’ve got one word which encompasses the situation - Irving. I used to figure that nobody could be less competent than Cathy, but now there’s two of ‘em!

Now who’s calling who a loser, Irving?

I, for one, don’t believe Cathy’s word is gospel when the topic is tech.

I know she’s a savvy shopper, and I know a guy on a tear can be awfully closed-minded, but I still think Irving would be up-to-date enough not to be paying for their cell service by the minute.

Besides, life is so much simpler for us commenters, if we just decide that Cathy is wrong and they already have Unlimited!

So. People are finally admitting that the two of them belong together! instead of nagging her to leave him. Who she really has to leave is her dysfunctional self (which might require leaving Irving, and might not).

I don’t see anyone in the strip as providing her the right kind of support, either. Everybody represents a different kind of dysfunctionality.

Well… maybe her father … is he ok? is it ok if he stays married to her mother? or does that automatically disqualify him?

and why, exactly, has GoComix rejected my comment? Not a single 4-letter word, or even one like one. I did use the words dysfunctional and dysfunctionality. Are those what’s unacceptable? Let’s see:

Well, those words are not the problem. And now the original comment has been restored, for all to read, in glorious black & white! Ah, technology. An appropriate reaction of the system, considering that that’s what the Cathy strips are about lately.

Well, I have better things to do with my time than to try to track down what was wrong. Probably just a bug in the system. (Does anybody know where that expression comes from? There was a case where there was a real, genuine bug in the system. It got fried, and the system crashed, and its name lives on forever…)

No I don’t know its name. I just call it a bug. Like everyone else.

This series has been (for me, at least) the best “Cathy” strips ever!! Hilarious!
