“Chick talk” as “career suicide”? I guess his boss isn’t a female.
Irving doesn’t really have a clue what “chick talk” is, anyway - just wait til he’s married 20 years and has nothing but daughters. From experience, let me tell you that it’s “life suicide” not to be fluent in chick talk! And if he had the basics, he would have appreciated - at least in retrospect - what his wife was so intently trying to tell him from the start.
