At the risk of being branded sexist, ladyfinger, it has to be a woman thing. A man wouldn’t even bother to straighten out the sock drawer, much less re-decorate the entire apartment so that it will match the mint condition of the new socks. He’d just stuff them in the drawer, close it, and get back to his regularly scheduled weekend.

I think I have a guy mind then because I would just shove them in the drawer too. If there’s no room for them, then I would clean out the drawer, but that’s it.

legaleagle, sexism goes both ways - my own husband has a “woman mind” according to your comment. He also does all the cleaning as I apparently am a “man” and don’t see messes or organize a thing, and he’ll gladly spend his free time organizing and cleaning and hates when things are out of place.

My husband’s sock drawer is extremely neat and tidy with everything grouped together by color (white, black, gray, navy blue, and dark green). If it were dark and he wanted to (or, God forbid, had to), he could reach in that drawer and in just a couple of seconds, he’d pull out the exact color of socks he needed.
