It’s all true. My dogs give me comfort, a sense of purpose, joy, anticipation, love, loyalty, lots of exercise to keep me in shape (sort of) and a joy for life. They are happiness machines with wagging tails and happy kisses.
They are worth every penny they cost. And who cares if they aren’t deductable.
The real question should be “why does the accountant bother to meet with you?”. How could an innocent question turn into such a nutty answer? Cathy’s dog is her therapist, not a tax deduction. Big difference.
Shoes are deductible, but only when you donate them to charity.
The dog probably needs a certificate to prove its a service dog.
One of the nearby counties refused to allow a child’s service dog at his school, because it didn’t have the right kind of certificate…. The IRS would probably make a similarly stupid decision.
