Cathy: I walked through housewares and bought a juicer and a set of mugs on sale for my home. I walked through bedding and bought sheets, a comforter and an area rug on sale for my home. At last I have arrived in menswear, where I will be forced to think of something besides my own home! Does this come in my size? Saleswoman: Oh, yes! Half our sales of men's flannels are for women!

Have we EVER seen Cathy in a plaid flannel shirt?

It’s difficult for me to find pants that fit, so I used to buy pants in the mens section because I could get them by waist and length. Unfortunately they don’t account for women’s curves…Good morning, everyone (including Aaron and Billy – miss you!!)!

I always find the legs and arms too short in women’s clothes, so I have a number of men’s shirts and things. But where they give a bit more length to the extremities, they don’t allow for the rounder bits in between!

Cathy – the definitive impulse shopper! Good afternoon fellow Cathyites. Trying to stay indoors again today. More freezing rain last night. They are promising good ol’ honest snow tonight though. Basement reconstruction going very well. Hoping the flooring will arrive tomorrow so they can get one room finished. That way I can move my office and, more importantly, empy the container in the driveway before my daughters come home for Christmas.

Hi to the rest of the Cathyites!! I don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but the reason folks splurge at Christmas — mostly on their own home or self — is that so much of the stuff is not on the shelves the rest of the year. I walked thru some of my favorite stores in Oct & Nov and found the shelves almost empty — in anticipation of luring me in on the day after Thanksgiving I suppose. That is never going to happen with me — I would rather do without. I wish stores would stop trying to manipulate me and just put the stuff out there and let me shop when I want to.
