Cathy: Young women are wearing skimpier and skimpier clothes to work. You need to set some corporate rules. Mr. Pinkley: I'm shocked at you, Cathy! Women have fought hard to be viewed as serious business people no matter what they choose to wear! If I told women to cover up, it would be taken entirely the wrong way!! Co-worker: They might think you want them to cover up!! Mr. Pinkley: Hoo, Boy! Could set us back ten years!

Oh jeez… I’m a woman who respects the efforts of those who struggled so that I can have choices and do what I think is best for me. People (usually women) who get so uptight about what others say or do to them, give the rest of us a bad name. For example, the whole debate of opening doors is ridiculous. Yes, I’m fully capable of opening a door, but if a male wants to be polite and open it for me, I think he is kind and thank him. Good morning, Cathy clan! Have to keep reminding myself that today is Wednesday!

“a miniskirt is appropriate anywhere”
Only if you have good looking legs, please.

People will always disagree on what to wear to work. Just this year, my workplace replaced our summer dress code (shorts) with all-year-long jeans dress code.

I give thanks every single day that I work from home. My dress code is whatever I feel like wearing! Then again, I have nothing to wear when I have to meet with clients…

I was in the second graduation class of a 2 year college, the entire dress code was that outside of the swimming pool area you had to wear shoes or sandals which covered the sloes of your feet, DON"T ABUSE IT. And while there were a few who pushed the limits of this simple dress code, Everything worked out fine and there were few if any problems. So what is the point of asking people to cover up?

It seems that most of the people (men & women) who show too much skin are those who don’t have the body to wear that kind of clothing. :)
Happy Wednesday, Cathy Clan from a relative newbie on posting here.

Warning…rant mode on…feel free to skip
Several years ago I worked for a bank in a cost center that had NO interaction with customers. In the summertime, the dress code was relaxed from business to something slightly less than business casual (business casual lite?). Anyways, one of the non-summer rules for women was that they had to wear stockings/panty-hose/whatever if they wore a skirt or dress. In the summer, this accompaniment requirement was not enforced. However, as a guy, I could not wear shorts of any kind, no matter how nice they looked. So, when it was 90+ degrees, while the women were wearing thin and short sundresses, I was required to wear polo shirts or dress shirts and either jeans or slacks.
And before anyone asks, the attractiveness of the women is not in question. Some could pull off the look, while some couldn’t. All I knew is that I was sweating in the office almost every day that summer.
OK, rant mode off…

Sorry to hear of your travail. I always wear Levis, even it it’s 105F. Shorts are simply not becoming, no matter how pretty your legs might be.

And, the [eye-roll] should cover it again. Uncanny.
HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.

I don’t know how skimpily-clad women can expect to be taken seriously when they’re wearing completely inappropriate clothes to work [such as the women in this week’s strips have been doing]. And the kicker? They get mad and offended when all the men sit/stand there ogling and panting over them instead of respecting them! When they’re showing so much skin by wearing short skirts, tank tops, etc., what do they expect? Are they REALLY that dense or what?!? If you want professional respect, then dress appropriately to get it. It’s as simple as that!
Hi, rgcviper!
lightenup: I like it when a gentleman opens a door for me too. So glad chivalry isn’t completely dead these days no matter HOW hard some people try to kill it!!!!!
Hello, ’Cathy" clan. Hope everyone had a really nice Wednesday!
