Mr Pinkley: To say anything about women's skimpy office wear implies I noticed. To imply I noticed is to imply I looked. To imply I looked is to imply I leered. To imply I leered is to hurl myself into a vat of legal horrors and destroy everything I've worked my whole life to build!! Why don't you say something, Cathy?? Cathy: It would imply I'm old. Charlene: Back to you, Mr. Pinkley.

Oh this is tiring. So she looks like she belongs in a gym? Then she’ll be treated that way. It’s not hard. Just dress for the job that you do (and dress for your company culture).Good morning, Cathy clan!

Cathy, darling, you ARE old. Those of us who can do simple math figured that out a long time ago!

This is dumb. Anybody who goes into work lookinglike that should be sent home for causing distractions.

That outfit would have been an excuse to fire her, especially if she refused to go home to change. Her boss is a coward for not setting up a dress code. :-(
O-Kay about 11 years ago
Please. Mr. Pinkley doesn’t WANT a dress code!

I’d rather be an old woman than a dirty old man.
locake about 11 years ago
Just send out a dress code memo to all the staff.

She looks great if she’s going to the beach.

I don’t know of many offices that wouldn’t have sent that young woman home to change or pursued a disciplinary action because of that outfit. This is exaggerated, but it’s a comic strip and still makes a good point. Would have been nice to have been balanced by the young men who show up in old T-shirts and ratty jeans as a work uniform.

It’s not Cathy’s job to say something to little-miss-scantily-clad, you dum-dum! You’re the boss, Mr. Pinkley. It’s up to YOU to set your company’s dress code policy. If you’re too much of a coward to do it, then this is what you get — a real anything-goes kind of mentality when it comes to what people wear while on the job. The NEXT thing you can expect to get is slapped with a sexual harassment lawsuit when some leering, ogling, hands-y pervert comes on to these women because their skimpy clothing will be an irresistible “invitation they can’t refuse”! The best thing to do now is to implement a new, official dress code policy and get it started ASAP. Some people probably won’t like it but better that than getting the police, lawyers and courts involved in a hugely ugly and expensive lawsuit somewhere down the road.
Hi, rgcviper!
Terri: You’re absolutely right about that. After all, they do it to kids in school — not to mention adults at Disney theme parks these days! — so why not send home inappropriately dressed people from work?
Hello and Happy Thursday, fellow “Cathy” fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today!

As a professor in a dept which included Women’s Studies, I was amazed when one of the directors (who was plenty old enogugh to know better) showed up in a mini skirt and flip-flops.

[Sigh] And, the madness continues.
HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
