It’s true though…I like to find weird, interesting, unique things that nobody else has, and sure enough it happens all the time that cheap knockoffs pop up everywhere just after I buy them!
That happened to Ralph on the Honeymooners, he bought Alice a nice box made of matches to hold her bobby pins, a box made for the Emperor of Japan. Then some one time character bought Alice a knock off of it.
Oh jeez, no it’s not. It doesn’t matter who thought of it first. It should only matter that you put some thought into it and tried to buy a gift that would make the recipient happy. It’s not about you, Cathy! Oh right, the comic is about you, Cathy, but the gift is not.Hello Cathy clan! Susan, I don’t find Christmas a source of stress because I don’t feel the need to buy for everyone. I buy for my kids, my husband and sometimes myself (easier that way and I get what I want). I also buy for some nieces and nephews and that’s it. My mom doesn’t want anything and neither do most of my friends. My friends and I go out to lunch and enjoy each other’s company and that’s it. Perfect!
Personally, I don’t care whether someone gives me something “one-of-a-kind” or something that everyone and their dog has. If it comes from their heart and is something they know that I’ll love and use then whatever they want to do is fine with me. As for me, while I do try to come up with gift ideas for people that are a little more on the “unique” side, I don’t spazz out and beat myself up if the the latest fad out there is what I end up doing anyhow. As long as it comes from my heart [which it always does] and I know that they’ll still love and use it, then it shouldn’t matter to them either [not if they really care anything at all about me and my feelings anyhow — which I HOPE they do!].
Hi, rgcviper!
Hello, fellow “Cathy” fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today.
I buy most of my gifts at art fairs, bead shows and the farmer’s market. Most of them are hand-made and unique and none of them cost an arm and a leg. Most of my friends are fascinated and happy. The only problem is the hubby, and I try to extract from him what he wants or needs.

Ungrateful, picky friends are not friends.

“Sorry, ma’am, but we’re going to need to see some official documentation stating that you ‘thought of it first’. Company policy, I’m afraid.”
HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
