Charlene: Karen lost nine pounds on the zone diet! Cathy: I'm saying "no" to dienting this year, remember? Man: Frank dropped eleven pounds on Atkins! Cathy: Nothing you say can entice me! Woman: Kim lost six inches! Cathy: Not listening! I have committed to a healthy, diet-free life! Stop waving weight-loss morsels in front of me! ...How far we've come since temptation was a nice big piece of chocolate cake.

That’s because most people miss the point of dieting. It’s not about temporary deprivation that you drop once you’ve reached your fitness goals. It’s about teaching you to make better choices and establish healthier eating habits that are intended to become a permanent part of your life. And don’t forget the other half of the equation (which a lot of dieters do): regular exercise to burn off the fat, increase lean muscle mass, and permanently raise your metabolism to where it’s going to burn that fat and those carbs more efficiently throughout the day to help you keep those unwanted pounds from coming back.

Mmm, chocolate cake…. Good morning, Cathy clan! I’m sure most of you have read about the mess down here. I’m happy that my family is home safe and warm, and am hoping everyone else can get home soon.

Oh, great, now I want a nice big piece of chocolate cake and, as usual, that’s not something we keep in our house because it’s really hard to stick to a diet and lose weight when you do. So thanks a lot, Cathy!!!!! :-(
Hi, rgcviper!
lightenup: I heard about your snow and ice storm and I’m glad to hear you and your family are okay. I see that according to weather.com, you’ve got 6 day’s worth of 50’s and 60’s headed your way starting on Friday [along with some chances of rain] so that should get things cleaned up down there pretty soon. Until then, girlfriend, stay safe and warm!!!
hendelca: Glad to hear you had a great time on your recent trip to Hawaii. Oahu is where my husband and I went on our honeymoon 25 years ago and while I’ve always wanted to go back again, work and family obligations haven’t allowed us that opportunity but I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to again someday. Sounds like it’s really “grown up” a lot since then!

The cake WOULD be a lot tastier, though.
HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
