Irving: Let's check some of this off, Cathy. I'll line up the flowers. Cathy: What?? Oh, no! I know exactly how I want the flowers! I'll do the flowers! Irving: I'll order the cake. Cathy: The cake?? Hoo, boy! No! I'll do the cake!! I'll do the invitations. I'll do the menu. I'll do the favors. I'll do the photographer! I'll do the guestbook! I'll do the seating chart! I'll do the music! I'll do the clothes! ..Typical. For the man, a wedding is one "I Do". For the woman, it's five hundred "I'll dos." Irving: Could someone explain why you get to be a control freak and a victim?? Cathy: I'll do it.

If Cathy isn’t willing to delegate and let Irving do something wedding-related, then she’s got no right to sit there playing the victim and bitching to him (her family, her friends, or anyone else who will listen) about how he’s a “typical man” just sitting around on his keister and not doing a damn thing to help her out!
Meanwhile . . . some advice, Cathy, from one Type-A personality to another: try to let at least some of it go. You’d be amazed at how much lighter your shoulders would feel if only you’d allow your partner the freedom to help you out with something every now and then in order to lessen your load — even if it’s just a little bit (and this isn’t only for the wedding planning either; it’s for anything in life). It’s very liberating indeed!!!!!
