Mom: Maybe we should ask Irving to come back and help with our computer. Dad: Too embarrassing. Mom: Maybe we should call Cathy. Dad: Too humiliating. There are a zillion computer-savvy people in there who could help us anonymously if we could just figure out how to get to them!! Mom: COME OUT, COME OUT, WHEREVER YOU ARE!! Dad: The computer isn't even turned on and we're already becoming nerds.

It’s going to be awfully difficult writing and sending an e-mail or finding help to help you find a chat room if you don’t at least turn the darn thing on first!!! I may not know a whole lot about compu-ters but even I know that! I swear. Sometimes I think the two of you don’t have a single brain cell between you. No wonder Cathy is as neurotic as she is!!!
P.S.: Just call Irving for help because you’re both so inept thatnot even Google can figure out how to be your friend!!!!! ;-)

I don’t think it works that way, Cathy’s mom… eyeroll.Hello sis and the rest of the Cathy friends! Just running around trying to get the last of my errands done so I can pack up tomorrow. Phew, I need a rest from this “vacation”!

Cathy’s mom and dad, please don’t call me. This one is really close to the truth. We have had some clients almost this bad.. like turning on the monitor and not the computer itself. Difficult to figure out what is going on (and really really frustrating) when you cannot see through the internet! Just happy we have staff to handle support calls since I had to do it the first two years we were selling our software.

As a help desk analyst, this one hits very close to home. Depending on what the user has told me their problem is, this may be one of the first questions I ask. I’ve had people that called because their mouse wasn’t working only to find that it wasn’t plugged in. I’ve had people call because their printer wasn’t printing only to find they had a wrong or nonexistent one selected in the program they were using. The difference being selecting the wrong printer may print the document in the wrong place while selecting a nonexistent printer will not print the document at all.I could go on for days. My colleagues and I share stories at the end of the day and many times we laugh ourselves silly, but at the same time we’re also grateful as those stories mean job security for us.
