Depends on where your storage is going to end up. Cardboard doesn’t cut it in damp humid places, protect from possible rodent attacks, or smelly places.
I agree, summerdog. I’m not sure I would put my valuables in a cardboard box that once held food, for example. But my cat used to sleep in a box we got from Costco, so there are good uses for them.Oh, and to use GretchensMom’s wonderful phrase… Cathy’s mom is definitely a whack-a-doodle in this one!
I agree too summerdog, besides rodents, cardboard can invite silverfish and other critters who feed on cardboard or the glue holding it together. Mrs. Whack-a-doodle and Cathy remind me of one of my aunts (by marriage) and her daughter. The apple definitely doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Well, in that case, why not buy a third set of plastic storage boxes, in which you can keep your previously new plastic storage boxes, in which (in turn) you can keep your original plastic storage boxes?

Plus with clear plastic ones you can usually see what’s in them without having to pull them out.
