My dog will tolerate being loved on a little bit. Otherwise, she’d rather be left alone and not handled quite so much. She’s been this way ever since we brought her home at 12 weeks of age (she’s now 14 years old). We think she probably didn’t get as much human interaction / handling in her first few weeks of lifeas she should have when it was the most important and despite all the loving on her that we tried to do when we first brought her home, she just never got as used to it as we would have liked. But that’s okay. We love her anyhow despite this less-than-ideal “quirk” in her personality because she’s got so many other won-derful qualities that make up for it instead: she’s sweet, smart, pretty, funny, extremely obedient and if you get down on her level (since she really doesn’t like being picked up and held all that much), she’ll give you just about all the kisses you could possibly want! ♥
Hi, rgcviper! :-)
Hello and Happy Thursday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyone had a really great day today! :-)
I think animals are just as bizarre as humans sometimes. Sure, there are animals (dogs usually) who consistently like affection. But for the most part, animals (humans included) are animals and can change their mind at a moment’s notice and want something different than what they just seemed to want..Hello Cathy friends! Happy Thursday! Tomorrow I get to sleep in an hour, yay!!Sis, your dog sounds like my cats. While I know the stereotype is that cats are more standoffish, I’ve had really affectionate cats who won’t leave me alone and will be with me for hours. But my current cats are the shy, hard-to-adopt cats, so I can’t really pick them up much and none of them are lap cats. But one of them likes to sleep on me, which is sweet, and another one follows me around and just likes being next to me (I call her my puppy-cat :-)).

The anticipation is always better than the actual event.

Thirty seconds? Don’t believe it.. My cat lays in my lap a lot longer than that.

Hmm … not a bad analogy at all!
I still think Electra has the coolest name, too.
