Wow, some emotional baggage there, Cathy! My mom used to unnecessarily criticize also, so I think I’m sensitive to some things, but I would have just said “Yes it is” to that question, and left it at that.

When I want my way over something with my wife, I just suggest it to her, put up a mild resistance when she nixes it, and then give up quickly. I then let do the rest of the arguing with herself while I go read a book. It gets consistently better results than arguing my own case.

Thank heavens my Mom was never this critical…I was just too tall, too smart, too bossy, to ever get a husband…..my clothes were ok.
