I have developed the talent of talking to youth as if they have a brain in their heads. I was once approached by a young woman who was 13 when I met her in church, and she told me how she always appreciated the fact that I never talked to her “like a kid”. I use that same tact on my daughters and their friends.
I don’t see a problem that Cathy’s mom calls it a “nice” salad. I feel like Cathy is overreacting. I would never go nuts over someone saying a “nice salad” or a “nice steak” or whatever. Honestly, chill out. It’s just a positive adjective to me. Would she have preferred if her mom had said “Would you like a normal salad?” the way she’s implying she can handle? As usual, Cathy is going nutty over something small. She’s certainly not reacting like the adult she claims to be; she’s reacting like a toddler would (“I’m a BIG girl now!”).
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Wednesday! Have a great day, all!
Like lightenup said, I have no issues with a “nice” salad. This phrasing kind of makes the food sound appealing. And, of course, a “nice” salad beats a “stinky, rotten” salad, right?

Amazing how a parent can get on our last nerve simply by talking to us like we are their children.

If I gave my DH just a “nice” salad for dinner, he’d just say…“where’s the rest of my dinner?”

rgcviper…that’s exactly what I was thinking…would you rather she said "we’ll have a lousy salad for dinner. "
