My sister & I are in our early 60’s & as far back as I can recall, she’s ALWAYS asleep before 9pm; I’ve always been a night owl!

I live in Florida, the EST so I usually make it to about when Rio celebrates their New Years which is 2 hours ahead of us with lighting candles and throwing flowers into the sea at Copacabana Beach, I will make an effort to make it to midnight tonight, been having a bit of insomnia lately so that should help…..

Ah, finally, a strip for old people. LOL We’re in Mountain Zone, two hours behind EST, so we usually watch the ball drop at Times Square at 10 and then call it a night. I may or may not make it this year. :-)

Midnight is not for wimps. Though, in truth, all the gun fire in the neighborhood tends to wake up the dogs who have the need to wake me up, you know, just in case I’m scared or anything. …sheesh!!

Since I usually go to sleep around 11:30, staying up until 12 isn’t difficult for me. I’m just not sleepy at 9. Maybe I’ll go to bed earlier as I get older (10:30 pm sounds good), but I also don’t want to get up at 6am. Happy New Year, all!

The ball dropping in Times Square is going to look very strange this year with only a select number of “VIP’s” allowed to attend. I haven’t watched that event on t.v. in ages but I’m thinking about doing so tonight just to see exactly HOW strange it’s going to be.

    On that note …..

Wishing all of my friends here on “Cathy’s Corner” a very HAPPY New Year and really hoping that 2021 will be a much better one for ALL of us! ♥

    Hi, rgcviper! :-)

    .

Hello and Happy Thursday/last day of 2020, fellow Cathy fans. Hope you all have/had a really nice day today and if you DO venture out somewhere tonight to celebrate the end of a really BAD year and the start of a new (and hopefully BETTER) one, please do so safely with your masks on and be sure to keep your distance away from other people because anyone could be ill with Covid and you won’t know it until it’s too late and then you’ve got it too. :-(

Since my normal bedtime is 2:00am EST I have no trouble staying up past midnight. I am alone though as my wife hits the bed between 10 and 11. I gave up watching the ball drop years ago when the cameras started to spend all of their time on the crowd so I did not get to see the ball at all. Maybe this year might be different with no crowds.

We get to celebrate a little early today. At 3:00pm they are going around the bay in a helicopter to livestream every outside having fun as family groups. We will be around our bonfire so it should look interesting – there will be a lot of people doing the same thing. Others will be doing some activity – like snowmobiling, skiing, or snowshoeing. Then at 8:00 most of the residents around the bay will be setting off fireworks while a drone livestreams that. In all, probably the most celebrating we have done since we stopped having house parties a few decades ago.

Please celebrate safely. Not worth the risk just to be in a crowd right now. Happy New Year to everyone who hangs out here.

Happy new year! We’ll be snug in bed by 9:00. If the fireworks at midnight wake Hubby and I up we’ll mutter “Happy new year, honey!” aim a kiss at each other and try to go back to sleep!

If you want to see true Northerners enjoying a beautiful winter day check out the video on the Deal Crashers facebook page. We waved to you but at the speed the helicopter was flying you won’t see us for long!

That same Facebook page shows the same bay ringed with fireworks displays at 8:00pm this evening. A really enjoyable display.

I’ve always been a night owl, so midnight is really just another hour—as you might guess from my 11:57 p.m. post here …

HI, MOM. Happy New Year, Clan.

We were so lucky to have some favorite folk singers (Don White and Christine Lavin) put on a New Year’s Eve zoom concert tonight. It was a lot of fun and lasted over 3 hours. As most of you might have guessed, I’m a night owl and don’t usually get to bed until 2:00 so staying up for the new year is no challenge. Happy New Year to everyone here in Cathy’s Corner.
