Mom: Etc. For years I hovered over my daughter, orchestrating every moment of her life. Then I learned that hovering robs children of decision-making skills and the wisdom that can only come from making one's own mistakes. Now I no longer hover. Cathy out of frame: MOM! Mom: Now I merely open my arms and leap right down into the deep end with her!! Once I was a "helicopter parent". Now I'm an "inner tube parent".

Looks like Cathy’s mom is her rock. Nice. Family ties go a long way.

I believe ‘inner tube’ parenting results in far better adjusted children than ‘helicopter’ parenting.
I hope everyone is having a sunny Sunday.

If “inner tube parenting” means waiting until they come to you, I’m all for it.
