As far as I can tell, there are no sites that just give you the recipe. Oh, no. They want to explain the origin of flour, show 5 pictures of how it would look if you cooked in a studio, and provide 45 links to other web pages that also use flour. Sure, some of them have “Go to Recipe” links, but it does make you wonder if these cooks are unpaid-by-the-word. :)
Yeah, usually their “easy” recipes involve a device that they have to make things easier. I don’t have a food processor or a team of little elves to chop things up or make things go faster. I have to read through recipes to make sure that they really are as “effortless” as they claim.

Oh, for the love of heaven, Anne, just stick to the basics here! If everything you’ve always done in the past has always been good, then you can’t possibly go wrong. Thanksgiving morning is NOT the day to suddenly begin looking through 240 time-saving stuffing recipes, 160 sweet potato ideas, 50 different bean dishes, and a ton of websites/videos for every-thing else in order to decide what to make for dinner this year. The research time required to do that has already come and gone so if you don’t want to eat Thanksgiving dinner “some-time in February” as opposed to today, then just prepare it the same way you always have. Your husband, daughter, and Irving (if he comes) will definitely thank you for it!

It took a long conversation by my daughters and I to convince my wife that her own recipe for stuffing was far superior to anything she found on the web. The conversation was brought about by a recipe that left the stuffing almost inedible because of a strong added flavour from something the on-line recipe said was delicious. Also convinced her that the time to experiment with new recipes is when we are alone and not when we have family or guests visiting. The stuffing last Christmas was excellent – her old way of making it. We did not bother with stuffing this past Thanksgiving (yes, I am Canadian) since there was only the two of us. So far it is looking good for both daughters and their partners (one son-in-law, one future son-in-law) to be home at the same time.

BTW, the turkey was awful this year…don’t know if it’s a supply chain issue or what, but I was NOT pleased. Americans, beware!
