Today’s Cathy is about a sticky note on a computer.
Every few weeks, my much-older wife would come to me and ask how to start WordPerfect on her computer. It was the only program she used. Despite the fact that there were three sticky notes on the computer with “WP [enter]” in red ink, she would still come to me to ask how to start the program. I would patiently tell her how to do it. For good measure, I would make another sticky note and show her where I stuck in on the monitor.
She could also never tell people I did free-lance IT consulting for a living, but that was just snobbishness. Her previous husband had been a lawyer.
I have been blessed (cursed) with a very poor short term memory but an excellent long term one. I can remember events from my first day at school but cannot remember what I was supposed to do today – or worse, the name of the person just introduced to me. My wife is always telling me to make a list of things I want to do today and she gets a rather strange look in her eyes when I remind her that I will forget to look at the list (and that is true).
Friday again! Seems like I was saying happy Monday just yesterday. Yet another fast week. Ah well, it was a good one. I hope you are finishing up a good week too.
Reminds me of my experience with computerized Sticky Notes. They were a good idea in theory, but the program kept freezing/not responding. As a result, I just typed everything into a Word doc. Technology …
