Cathy: Electra's staring at us because she wants to go for a walk. If you make eye contact, she'll think there's hope and will start scratching at my leg. Aack! You made eye contact! Now she's scratching at my leg and she'll start clearing her throat! Do not respond to the throat clearing! Do not move! The slightest move will send her into a leaping, barking frenzy because she'll think we're going for a walk. Do not move! Don't breathe! Don't look! Freeze into position and don't move a muscle! Man: Why don't you just take her for a walk? Cathy: I don't want her to think she can control me.

I would think Cathy would be happy as Electra just helped her avoid an extremely boring story from a dude that looks like Irving before the baldness set in. Any story that has “so I was there 10 years before….” would make one fall asleep or wish they had more Jim Beam in their Coke or Bushmills in their coffee…….

My dog has a similar tendency, but he’s 14. I sometimes let him out the front door and give him a minute to realize that I didn’t go with him. He’s back in a flash wondering what’s wrong with me. Other times, I tell him to sit and he knows that it is not time to go for a walk so he curls up and waits quietly.

Lots of dogs in our neighbourhood – and lots of dog walkers too. The families that don’t often walk their dog have a fenced in area in their yard so the dogs can run. Definitely a good neighbourhood to live in.
MarshaOstroff – I have always heard that Mexico City is always hot. I guess the tourist brochures don’t tell all of the truth. Happy to hear you are not having any earthquakes. Those scare me and the worst I have lived through (easily) was a 2.0.
