I’ve said the same thing about gifts I’ve received many times while secretly thinking “I’d really have liked that in another colour”.

Get it. Gift it. Forget it. That’s my motto. …As long as I know they like it. I can always take it back and exchange it if necessary. Maybe money would have been a better gift option.

I don’t like getting gift cards. I would rather someone actually put some thought into a gift they give me. I always gave people thoughtful gifts and a gift return receipt so if by chance they didn’t like it, they had the option to return it. I’m happy to say I know for a fact that people almost never returned any of my gifts and that they used them often. Many people commented years later on specific gifts I had given them and how much they liked them, and it really made me feel great.

I prefer a physical gift too. Gift cards are handy to give. I am fairly easy to please when it comes to getting gifts – if it has chocolate it is good. Most of my gifts this year were edible or drinkable so it was a great Christmas. Of course having family home was the best gift of all.

Not too many days left this year so please try to enjoy them.

This is why my husband, mother, daughter, S-I-L and I finally agreed to quit exchanging Christmas presents a few years ago. It was too stressful trying to guess what everyone would like and when you didn’t have any ideas and would just come right out and ask them, they’d always say they didn’t know because anything they wanted or needed since last Christmas had already been bought over the course of the year. I’m so thankful that we don’t have to worry about doing that anymore and can just sit back, relax, enjoy spending time together as a family, and remember the REAL “reason for the season” instead! ♥

Yup—this one, about gift exchanges, is probably closer to the truth than many of us care to imagine … though hopefully not to this [eye-rolling] extreme.

    HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
