I have worn men’s shirts for years. They have more room in the sleeves. For some reason women’s clothing manufacturers haven’t figured out that women’s upper arms tend to increase in size after age 40. Why they do that is a mystery we’d all like to solve since it’s ANNOYING. But since I can’t stand the fabric hugging my arms I buy men’s shirts. And flannel is the best thing in the winter.
I’ve worn some nice looking mens clothes before. Nothing wrong with that. When I am in Europe and have to buy shoes (which I prefer to do in the US), I have to buy mens shoes because they don’t have them in my size in womens. My only issue with mens shoes is that they are usually clunkier than womens and I don’t like the styles. I feel like I’m wearing shoes that are too big even if they fit me lengthwise.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Tuesday! Have a great day, all!
I’d wear flannel if it wasn’t always plaid. Plain colors can sometimes be found, also herringbone and small prints, but those are difficult to locate. I don’t wear non-stretch fabrics much anymore. (Years of working outside in all kinds of weather taught me that clothing weight, fabric stretchability and breathability matters most.) A few cashmere sweaters, layered, work better for warmth— and they are lighter weight. Natural fiber breathes better and cashmere (along with sheep’s wool) will keep you warm even when wet. A soggy cotton flannel shirt won’t. Cashmere is pricey but worth every penny spent. Even the moth-holed ones are useful for sleeping or for wearing under my fishing vest.
As usual, Cathy’s walk though a store results in purchases she did not need. I wonder if she will even use the juicer more than once.
Mother nature is really confused this year. A few weeks ago we had enough snow fall to completely cover the grass so we all thought that it was here to stay for the winter. Snowmobile enthusiasts were really excited. The lake, which had only frozen close to shore, did completely freeze over. Then last week the temps went way higher than normal for our December – like up to 8C. The grass was completely green again and the lake actually unfroze. Fortunately, for those of us who like a white Christmas, we did get a few flurries over the past two days to at least make the lawn look mostly white. But, sunshine and above freezing temperatures are predicted for the rest of the week. Not so good for a white Christmas but really good for my two daughters and their families to drive up from southern Ontario to join us for the holiday.

I didn’t discover the comfort of flannel shirts until late middle age. I finally realized why my lesbian friends looked so comfortable in them.

It’s ok, Cathy…the men don’t want anything we get them anyway.
