Pierre doesn’t understand stuffed animal surrogacy. Too bad for him, in more ways than one!

He didn’t say he felt like eating a stuffed animal!

ejcapulet, what Pierre doesn’t get is that a stuffed animal, whether it’s a bunny or a teddy or anything else, that has been one’s lifelong companion, as Monsieur Smokey has been to Mona, that stuffed animal IS ALIVE to its person and demands respect as such. So when Pierre says he’s had a craving for rabbit right in front of Mona and M. Smokey, he has indeed threatened the LIVING bunny-Mona symbiote; so, the Mona-bunny bites him, and rightly so! It is as if to say, “How dare you think of my M. Smokey as a mere ‘stuffed animal’ or say he’s not real!”

yes, saying it’s just a stuffed animal is a good way to get mauled by a tiger.
